Grant of Probate is to enable an Executor to prove his/her right to deal with the testate's i.e. deceased's assets, which pass under the Will and/or Codicil. The Grant of Probate is issued by the Court (Probate Registry). The Court checks the Will. Not all the assets require a Grant of Probate or Grant of Representation e.g. some insurance policies, personal chattels and Estates under £5,000
