Licensing

Our Senior Partner Keith Evans has been dealing with a large number of licenses over the last 17 years and has developed a good reputation with the trade and local authority alike.

He and his team, single handily dealt with over 60% of ALL licensing applications that have been made in the Newport area under the new legislation.

Since the introduction of the new "Licensing Act 2003", which came into force in August 2005, all premises where alcohol is supplied, entertainment is provided or hot food is sold after 11pm, must obtain a Premises Licence. In addition, the person managing the premises now requires a Personal Licence and a Designated Premises Supervisor must be named.

Under the new Act it has become increasingly important to consider the measures you will take to promote the licensing objectives, which are centred on public order and the prevention of crime. Private individuals, local businesses and authorities such as the Police now have the right to object to a Premises Licence, which could lead to your licence being revoked. They can also object to a new licence being granted in the first place.

At Keith Evans & Company we can advise you an all aspects of this highly topical law.
